• The GMAT is a Computer Adaptive Test (CAT). In other words, we say that the level of questions goes up and down depending on how is performing through each question of the test.
• We also that CAT selects each question (from a pool of questions) and uses your previous answers to maximize how precisely the exam gauges your skill level.
• The exam you take will be completely different from the exams of the people in the room with you.

There are four separately timed sections and two optional breaks on the GMAT, as outlined in the table below:

There are two types of questions on the Quantitative Section:

• Problem Solving
• Data Sufficiency

Problem Solving questions tests your ability to:

• Understand and apply mathematical concepts to problems
• Reason and solve quantitative problems
• Interpret graphical data

Data Sufficiency questions measure your ability to:

• Analyze a quantitative problem
• Recognize when given information is relevant
• Determine at what point there is sufficient information to solve a problem

Data Sufficiency questions measure your ability to:
Data Sufficiency problem consists of a question and two statements, labeled (1) and (2), that give data. You must decide whether the data given in the statements are enough for answering the question. Using the data given in the statements plus your knowledge of mathematics, you must indicate whether the data given in the statements are sufficient for answering the questions and then indicate one of the following answer choices:

• (A) Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient to answer the question asked
• (B) Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient to answer the question asked
• (C) BOTH statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are sufficient to answer the question asked, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient
• (D) EACH statement ALONE is sufficient to answer the question asked.
• (E) Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient to answer the question asked, and additional data are needed

Once you have registered for the GMAT and have a confirmed test date, create a study schedule.Plan out what you are going to study on a certain day, when you will study, where you will study, how long you will study and your goals for each day. Stick to your designed plan!

An exhaustive review of concepts in Math subjects – arithmetic, algebra, statistics, and geometry– is utmost important!!!!!! It is necessary to have a strong foundation and understanding of key terms and equations before you begin applying this knowledge to GMAT Quantitative problems.

You should understand why incorrect answers are incorrect. Identify your areas of improvement,and focus to strengthening these areas to its max.

In any walk of life, it takes lot of practice to become the best in that category. It is true with GMAT Math Problem Solving and Data Sufficiency as well. So, practice all different kind of problems repeatedly and exhaustively in a given time frame will push you in top percentile.

You are allotted 3 hours and 46 minutes to complete the GMAT, including two eight-minute breaks. Treat your study time as if you are taking the real exam. Block out all distractions, limit interruptions, and focus throughout your study hours..

You have 75 minutes to answer 37 Quantitative questions. That is an average of two minutes per question. Identify the shortest method to get to the correct answer. Sometimes solving the problem mentally is the quickest way to get to the answer. Other times using a strategy such as Pick-A-Number or Back-Solve is the most efficient.

YPractice problems in books are great, however, the GMAT is a computer-adaptive test(CAT). Become familiar with answering Quantitative problems from computer screen to paper –doing so requires you to write down important information stated in each problem and draw diagrams and figures. You can download the Graduate Management Admissions Council’s free online test-preparation software, GMATPREP, to your PC or MAC by visiting www.mba.com.This software provides practice with real GMAT questions and the CAT format.

You can take GMAT test once every 31 calendar days. The maximum number of times you are permitted to take the test is five times in a rolling 12-month period. This policy applies even if you decide to cancel your test scores after taking the exam. If you take the GMAT more times than allowed, you will forfeit your GMAT scheduling fee, your test scores will not be reported,and you will be prohibited from future GMAT testing.
